Reading is a family affair in our home! Below are books and authors we’ve enjoyed over the years—some classics, some thrilling, and some quirky, but all beloved.

Family Favorites & Fun Reads:
- J.K. Rowling – We love the entire Harry Potter series; Magic, mystery, and growing up.
- Rick Riordan – Percy Jackson and more: his books blend mythology and adventure perfectly.
- Angie Sage – Her Septimus Heap series gave us a fresh take on dragons and magic.
- Eoin Colfer – The Artemis Fowl series opened our eyes to a whole new world of the Fae. My son and I read these together when he was younger—instant favorites.
Some of My Personal Favorites:
- Janet Evanovich – Stephanie Plum series: Laugh-out-loud Jersey girl, bounty hunter chaos. I can’t wait for each new release!
- Maureen Jennings – Her mystery novels inspired the Murdoch Mysteries TV series, which I adore.
- Sophie Kinsella – Her romantic comedies like Can You Keep a Secret? the Shopaholic series and many more, are fun, relatable, heartwarming, and filled with hilarity.
- Julia Quinn – I’ve loved the Bridgerton series since it first came out. Seeing it adapted on Netflix was a real treat!
Nostalgic & Classic Reads:
- C.S. Lewis – Chronicles of Narnia: A childhood favorite I passed to my son.
- L.M. Montgomery – Anne of Green Gables: Whimsical, timeless and one of my most cherished childhood reads.
- Laura Ingalls Wilder – Little House series: A peek into pioneer life. This series was a childhood favorite of mine, along with the TV series.
- Jules Verne – Grandfather of adventure fiction! His books were my son’s introduction to adventure stories.
Recommendations From My (Now Adult) Son:
- Terry Goodkind – His Sword of Truth and Confessor series are immersive adult fantasy adventures with rich world-building. (Note: the books are more mature, but the TV series is family-friendly.)
- Steve Alten – A favorite of my son’s! His Meg series is a thrilling deep-sea adventure with megalodons. (Pro tip from my son: skip the movie, stick to the books.)
- Michael Crichton – Jurassic Park and beyond. Sci-fi and dinosaurs? Yes, please.
- Christopher Paolini – The Inheritance Cycle is an epic fantasy adventure my son introduced me to. It was a great adventure. (And yes, the books are way better than the movie!)
