Welcome to Rackham Island, a crescent-shaped Caribbean paradise divided by class, charm, and a dash of scandal. On one side lies the glittering cove of the Doshers, the wealthy elite who summer in sprawling mansions and sip cocktails at the world-famous Rackham Resort. On the other, the rugged cliffs and cozy neighborhoods of the Landers, the hard-working locals who keep the island running and know everyone’s business.
Darcy Grace Knight grew up between these two worlds, the daughter of a refined Dosher mother and a no-nonsense Lander father who now serves as the island’s police chief. Together with her lifelong best friend, Willow Harmony Gale, a free-spirited baker with a hippie mom and a talent for turning sugar into magic, run The Knight-N-Gale Bookhouse & Bakery on Boutique Row, where rare books, gossip, and the scent of fresh pastries mingle daily.
When trouble stirs on Rackham Island, a suspicious death at the resort, a vanishing guest, or secrets buried deep in the sand, the two women find themselves drawn into mystery after mystery. With Darcy’s love of detective fiction and knack for uncovering the truth, and Willow’s warm intuition (and strategic use of cookies), they become the island’s most unlikely sleuths.
Alongside Darcy’s protective brothers, prim and proper resort manager Charles “Chuckie” Knight and laid-back boat tour guide Finn with his loveable chocolate lab named Chip, and the delightfully eccentric billionaire Cora Anne “Nana” Rackham, who might just be descended from pirates, the duo proves that in paradise, even the sweetest places can hide deadly secrets.
